They're carrying more than we can see.
Your child doesn't need to try harder. They are already trying so hard it is likely wearing them out. ADHD brains simply build their regulation and executive functioning skills on a later timeline, which is why we start early and build one small habit at a time: gently, together, before the timetable really heats up in high school.
The OT who was that ADHD kid.
Hi, I'm Shelley: AHPRA-registered occupational therapist, mum, and someone who knows ADHD from the inside, because I grew up with it.
Much of my work happens alongside teachers in primary and high schools, so when we talk about classrooms, I'm talking about rooms I actually work in. And I was the kid who found the jump to high school hard. As a parent and an OT, I want that leap to be lighter for other families.
That's why ADHD & Her exists.
Because sometimes you need a little more than a saved instagram reel.
OT-backed strategies, honest talk, and first word on everything new. From one tired, imperfect parent to another.
